Established in 1918, Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is a full-service construction association with hundreds of chapters throughout the United States. Members include qualified construction contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, equipment manufacturers and professional firms. AGC delivers a full range of services to its members, including governmental advocacy, market promotion, and the most up-to-date information for continued education and career training.
Nashville is home to AGC’s Middle Tennessee Branch, which was chartered in 1986. The Middle Tennessee Branch has a great staff led by Executive Director, Kelly Dando, Membership Director, Judy McCaskill, Safety Director, Thomas J. Reed and ACE Operations Coordinator, Janice Hosse. David Short, of The Parent Company (our August Customer Spotlight), is President of the Board of Directors. The Middle Tennessee Branch is very active, providing multiple opportunities each month for networking with suppliers, attending educational seminars, and collaborating with peers. Just this month, AGC provided seminars on employment termination & arbitration, ethics compliance for federal contractors, and a 30 hour OSHA training, as well as an open house bring together contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers. The Middle Tennessee Branch is not all work and no play; throughout the year, AGC hosts multiple peer-networking events, including a golf tournament, clay shoot, Churchill Downs’ Day at the Races, and the Builders Ball.
The Role of Technology
Have you called AGC lately? If so, you may have noticed their new phone system. AGC called upon CIO Office, a Response Point Specialist, to update their phone system late this summer. AGC went from a phone system that frequently lost voicemails and lacked necessary features (such as transferring calls); to a system that is reliable and boosted productivity.
CIO Office installed Microsoft’s Response Point software and D-Link’s VoiceCenter IP Phone System. Unified communications are proving to be an amazing value for businesses. AGC’s phone system is integrated with their Office Outlook Contact Manager, so callers are quickly identified when they dial into the office. Voicemails are received and archived in an email file, so employees can prioritize the messages they receive (you no longer have to listen to the ten messages you got over lunch before you get to the one you were waiting for). AGC employees also continue to be on the move without missing calls because Response Point easily integrates the office phone system with mobile devices.
CIO Office was happy to provide this service to AGC and we look forward to continuing to our relationship with this outstanding organization.
"I love CIO Office! We went from this archaic office with a phone system that occasionally worked, to having a phone system that is top-of-the-line, operates all the time, and is never down. It has increased our productivity greatly. We have had a tremendous amount of people call that love our new phone system because they can ask for a specific name and it is not one of those phone systems where they have to press a few numbers and listen to the whole greeting. They just call and say our name and they can get right to us, which is very helpful because time is money to a lot of our contractors. CIO Office has made us so high tech that our contractors are jealous. We will always recommend CIO Office."
